Expect is a wonderful program created by Don Libes that simplifies many otherwise onerous tasks, and this book is where he explains his creation.
This is not a reference book. It is a tutorial, and if you don't like tutorials, you aren't going to enjoy this. On the other hand, if you don't mind a meandering approach, Don writes enjoyably and well.
I liked that some pains were taken to provide page numbers when referring to subjects covered more fully elsewhere in the book. There are numerous example scripts included (all of those come with the Expect distribution available from http://expect.nist.gov).
