Any reason why you don't disclose the make and model of the card?



ndstat returns what the driver thinks the card should be doing.  To
get the card to restart NWAY autonegotiation or allow the driver to
adjust the speed.  Unplug the ethernet cable for a while.  That will
also cause the switch to change state.  Unfortunately, I've seen a few
cards (early 3c905) that will only negotiate on power up and will not
change state even with a reboot or reset.  I've also had some problems
with cheap switches (Netgear, Linksys, D-Link) where autonegotiation
fails and requires a power cycle to restart.

    @loudmouthman: correct, but how do you prove ANYTHING like that is accurate? You can't. A text file is no better or worse than anything.

    @loudmouthman: well, a digital signature could prove it hadn't been altered. Text is no more insecure than anything else in that sense.
