It's also damn annoying. Many web sites, particularly banks, won't accept your connection if you are not running Microsoft junk. Yes, sometimes you can get around that, but not always, and often the very tools that make IE the security riddled piece of junk it is are just what the bank requires!

"Sat Jul 3 00:00:40 2004 IE Dangerous!"

I wouldn't exactly call this "news," at least not to computer professionals who don't march to the beat of the Microsoft drum.

As Tony pointed out, it's very irritating to have to use Internet Exploder because some dork who thinks that Bill Gates invented the computer has sprinkled a liberal dash of half-assed HTML into his page code. I moved my business accounts from one back to another because of this. When the CSR at the old bank called to ask why, my explanation had as much effect as farting in a tornado: she just couldn't understand the problem. I suggested to her she get the bank's IT weenies to give me a call so I could explain to them why I wasn't going to be forced into using IE just to make some simple transactions.

Now, how much you want to bet the spinmeisters at Monopoly, Inc. are bending their congressmen's ears to get political pressure put on CERT to back off on their anti IE statements?
